For airline tickets, you pay online, or by phone, can you also reserve/pay direct at airport?

I was going to the airport to see a friend off anyway. I meant reserving and paying for the ticket directly, without having contacted the airline previously. Thanks.

Yes, most airports have ticket sales desks, and you can book there just as easily as going online or calling.

Most (if not all) airlines have the ability to issue tickets at their counters; however, keep in mind that (all things equal) a ticket at the airport is typically more expensive than if you bought that same ticket online. Most airlines charge an additional ticketing fee (some as much as $25) for purchasing a ticket in person at the airport.

sure, but as mentioned: $25 fee
why don’t you do it online? save time & hassle
